Ediesse was founded in 1983 by Esi, the historical publishing house owned by CGIL.
Since then it has published more than 800 volumes, an average of 40 a year.

The world of labour, economy, social and labour rights and the welfare state are the focus of its publications. It provides an updated perspective on these issues through seven series: i Saggi, i Materiali, le Guide, i Manuali, la Formazione, Studi e ricerche, Storia e memoria.
National level analyses and perspectives are always set in the European context and compared with broader international scenarios.

Apart from the Italian Journal of Social Policy (La Rivista delle Politiche Sociali), Ediesse publishes other prestigious journals: La Rivista Giuridica del Lavoro e della Previdenza Sociale, edited by Giorgio Grezzi, and Quaderni di Rassegna Sindacale - Lavori, edited by Mimmo Carrieri.
